ECONOMIC IMPACT OF OUR

WATER SUPPLY SOUTH FLORIDA

The Everglades directly

re-charges the Biscayne Aquifer that provides the direct water supply for communities from the Florida Keys and Miami all the way up to Palm Beach County.  These water supplies are at risk from saltwater intrusion and water management infrastructure that diverts water away from the Everglades. A 2010Report by the Mather Institute [GAS1] showed that Everglades Restoration—by re-directing the flow of clean water back to the Everglades—will provide a 4:1 return on investment in key areas like water supply.
